Idukki Dam open for visitors

The KSEB with the permission of the Government of Kerala has decided to open the Idukki dam for visitors owing the holiday season from September 1st to November 30th.

Visitors will be given a rare opportunity to explore Idukki dam – the largest arch dam in Asia along with the hill view park that is situated at 350 feet above the water level of the dam, the arch dam that connects Kuravan and Kurathi hills, Cheruthoni dam, Kulamavu dam, Vyshali cave and Nadukani pavilion. This decision of the authorities is sure to welcome all who wanted to explore the picturesque district in its entirety. Tickets are made available at the Hydel Tourism office at Cheruthoni.

Boat rides conducted by the Forest department are also arranged for visitors to enjoy the reservoir and its surroundings. Buggy cars or battery-charged cars are also made available to travel the 2 km distance starting from the entrance of the Cheruthoni dam to the last exit to cover all the important locations in the Idukki dam.
