Haven of Nilgiri Tahr will open up for visitors from April 1

Eravikulam National Park popularly known as Rajamala national park is located 13 km away from Munnar town. This park is administered under the Kerala forest and Wildlife department and became a national park in 1978. How to get there?

Devikulam Taluk of Idukki district is the exact location of Eravikulam National Park. The most immediate airports to the park are Kochi which is 148 KMs away and Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), which is located 175 km away from this majestic hilly beauty. The nearest Railway Station in Kerala is Aluva (120 km) and Coimbatore (160 km) in Tamil Nadu. The major bus operator on this route is KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) and there are several local route public transits available.

The right time to visit

The park was closed during the pandemic crisis but was soon open to the public. Due to the calving season of the Tahrs the park is closed. However, it will be open to visitors from April 1, 2022. The park is open on all week days from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. The months of April- May is often considered to the best tourists seasons of Munnar as so in Rajamala. You can enjoy the essence of Rajamala or Eravikulam National Park within two hours, there are entry tickets to the park which can be booked online or at the park gate.
